I am Mona Morton Goodall. I grew up in Roane County, WV, Clover to be exact. I attended Spencer High School and then Glenville State College to earn my Art Education degree. Oh yes, I also met my future husband. A few years after graduating, I began teaching art in Fayette County. First at Collins Middle School then, Oak Hill High School for 31 years before retiring.
I tell people when I was a child, I used to like to play school and play store. I've played school long enough so now I'm playing store awhile. I had a dream of having a shop of some kind when I retired. The opportunity presented itself so I thought, why not give it a shot. I opened Pear Tree Arts & Garden in March of 2012, on the Dove's Village Property, between Oak Hill and Fayetteville.
I offer classes and Paint Your Own Ceramics . I have various classes each month including Paint with me, where the picture is already drawn on the canvas and you simply paint along with me and have a great time. I have pottery classes, stepping stone classes, wine glass painting, and wine bottle painting. From time to time, I offer photography, cake decorating, quilting, crochet, and knitting. You can view the schedule on this website, Pear Tree Arts & Garden Facebook page, or stop on by the shop and pick up a schedule.
The other aspect of the business is the Paint Your Own Ceramics. I carry bisque for you to paint. I have items from seasonal, banks, figurines, boxes, mugs, plates, and serving platters. I welcome groups for birthday parties, bridal showers, Baby showers, ladies night out, church groups, scout troops, and home school groups. Please call ahead to make arrangements. 304-575-3730.
I also can provide a painting activity for your group at a conference or team building function. Great idea for a family reunion, club, scout troop, or church group. This usually includes a 9 x 12 canvas for $10 with a minimum of 10 participants or $100. The is also a travel fee which will be determined. If you are interested, please contact me via the form below.
I hope to continue to provide activities for local families and groups as well as visitors to our beautiful area.
